Takeaways: The Braves beat the New York Yankees 11-3 to open the series
USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves opened their three-game set with the New York Yankees with a bang winning 11-3.

The bats put up a massive number, and the pitching had this game never in doubt.

What can we take away from the Braves 11-3 victory over the Yankees?

Eddie Rosario went 3-5 in this ball game with a homer, double, and a single. The veteran scored three times and knocked four runs in himself in this ball game. You love to see your players near the bottom of the lineup showing up, and Rosario did just that in this ball game. This might be the spark the 31-year-old outfielder needed to get red hot as the Braves eye the postseason.

Nicky Lopez hasn't been with the ball club long, but in his short time with the Braves, he has shined. Lopez was 3-4 in this game with three singles. He scored one and drove in three runs himself. Lopez was a great addition and makes the Braves front office look smart every time he laces them up. He is the type of player you love having on your ball club when you are making a run in the postseason.

Max Fried struggled at the beginning of this game but was able to settle in and put together a good start. The Braves lefty went six innings of eight-hit baseball, only allowing two earned runs while striking out two. Fried is still getting back into his groove after an injury, but a start like this will win a lot of games when you have this offense to back you up. He is primed to have a solid run as we near the end of the regular season.

What's next?

Game two of this three-game set will be played at 6:20 ct as Bryce Elder will get the ball for the Braves, looking to take the series against Luis Severino of the Yankees. This game can be watched on TBS.
